Looking for an honest and in-depth Rank Math review to help you decide on a WordPress SEO plugin?
Rank Math has quickly become a popular SEO plugin for WordPress users as an alternative to Yoast SEO and even All In One SEO (AIOSEO).
In my experience with SEO content and ranking websites, I’ve learned that to win at search engine optimization (SEO), you need an effective WordPress SEO plugin that helps you handle SEO tasks easily.
But is Rank Math the plugin for your website’s success?
In this Rank Math review, I’ll go through the most important features you need to improve your search rankings and drive organic traffic.
Rank Math Review: Set Up & User Interface
Rank Math’s installation wizard is easy to follow, and you can go through it rather quickly.
Once you’ve installed and activated the plugin, you’ll see the Dashboard with different Lite or Pro modules. You will have to navigate to the Setup Wizard tab to start the configuration process.
The setup wizard comes with 5 +3 configuration steps depending on whether you’re installing the plugin’s Lite (Easy) or Pro (Advanced) version.
![The Rank Math Review You Need To Read [Worth It In 2025?] 1 Rank Math's setup wizard](https://aioseo.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/rank-math-setup-wizard.png)
I found it strange that the prompt to connect your Google Analytics account comes as early as step 2. For a newbie, this can be overwhelming.
The Google Analytics integration is a great feature in itself. However, most site owners who track their stats use an advanced Google Analytics plugin like MonsterInsights. It makes tracking your analytics super easy, even for SEO novices.
Unfortunately, Rank Math’s initial setup can be overwhelming for beginners. This carries over to the usability of other features.

Regarding the initial setup and usability, no SEO plugin beats AIOSEO, according to many Redditors:

Rank Math Review: On-page SEO
At its core, Rank Math is good at content optimization. The plugin provides real-time content analysis as you write, offering actionable suggestions to improve your content’s SEO potential.

Rank Math also has content and title readability analysis, which are great SEO features that help you benchmark your content against SEO best practices.

For instance, the content analysis tool checks your content’s readability, the usage of multimedia, and more.
While it works, it’s pretty basic compared to AIOSEO’s TruSEO Analysis module.

It allows you to add secondary keywords and provides a more comprehensive analysis that includes transition words and keyword density, among other elements. It also checks if you’ve used your focus keyphrase in important sections, such as the SEO title, meta description, and first paragraph of your content.
One gripe I had with Rank Math is that despite having enough modules in the free plan, many basic features were in the paid plans.

And I’m not the only one who had those sentiments.

Author SEO
Author SEO focuses on optimizing the presentation of author information to search engines. This helps you demonstrate Google’s E-E-A-T signals, which have been proven to impact search rankings.
To get started with Author SEO, complete the WordPress user profile with your details, including:
- Full name
- Valid email address
- Site URL
- Biography
- Professional profile image
These ensure search engines can accurately identify and attribute content to the author.
Once you’ve laid this foundation, Rank Math SEO facilitates the implementation of author schema markup, which provides structured data regarding the author’s identity and credentials to search engines.

I found this module clunky to use when compared to AIOSEO’s Author SEO module. It allows you to put tons of author information that search engines can pick to determine expertise, experience, authority, and trustworthiness (E-E-A-T).

You can even add awards, spoken languages, areas you’re knowledgeable about, and more. AIOSEO adds schema markup for all the information you add, making it easier for search engines to understand.
Everything about AIOSEO’s Author SEO module is streamlined and user-oriented, so anyone can use it, even if you have no tech experience.
Rank Math Review: AI Integration

One feature that makes Rank Math unique is Content AI. With over 40 tools available right inside your WordPress editor, it helps you with everything from blog post ideas and outlines to polished intros and outros.
If you’ve already published content, Rank Math’s AI can bulk-generate SEO titles and meta descriptions, allowing you to optimize your existing pages and posts in just a few clicks.
And if you need help writing, Rank Math’s Content AI can write for you using a credit-based token system.

I must admit that I got excited when this feature was released.
Who wouldn’t want their website to create its own content?
However, after trying it out (regularly over months), I began to wonder if this module was prematurely released, as the output leaves a lot to be desired, not to mention the credit system that ends up causing your subscription to skyrocket.

If you need an SEO plugin with reliable AI features, then AIOSEO is it. It comes with an AI Writing Assistant, a tool that helps you optimize your content on the fly. It even does competitor research, gives you keyword suggestions, and even shows you how top-ranking posts use those keywords.

With AIOSEO, you also get an AI Title/Description Generator and Link Assistant (a tool that automates internal linking).
Creating SEO content that ranks has never been easier.

Rank Math Review: Technical SEO
For most DIY SEOs, the technical aspects of SEO can be quite daunting. I know because I used to dread technical SEO until I discovered that SEO plugins made it easy.
So, how does Rank Math fare in this arena?
Let me walk you through some modules that help in this regard.
Schema Markup & Rich Snippets
Schema markup (also called structured data) is code that gives search engines more information about your page. It helps them better understand your content and can result in rich snippets on search engine results pages (SERPs).

This is where schema generators come in. They do the heavy lifting in the backend, creating the code. All you have to do is click a few buttons and fill in a few form fields.
Rank Math’s schema generator is quite user-friendly and has a more modern interface.

It has several schema types to choose from, including the option to add custom schema if your schema type isn’t included in the catalog.
In my opinion, Rank Math’s schema generator is nothing to write about. Especially considering that other competitors have more flexible offerings. For example, AIOSEO’s next-gen Schema Generator. Apart from the sleek design, it also makes it super easy to add any type of schema markup on your site.

Redirection Manager & 404 Error Management
Redirection managers are tools that help you manage and implement redirects from one URL to another. This prevents having 404 errors on your site and other situations where users and search engines can’t access a page.
Redirection managers are particularly important for maintaining a smooth user experience and optimizing search engine performance.
While there are many redirect types (including status codes), Rank Math only supports 3: 301, 302, and 307.

All in One SEO’s Redirection Manager was built to help with 19 different redirect types, ensuring you don’t get stuck when you need to use one of the less common ones. Examples include 303, 418, 505, and many others.
Breadcrumb Navigation
Breadcrumb navigation is a second form of navigation that helps users and search engines better navigate your website.
![The Rank Math Review You Need To Read [Worth It In 2025?] 2 Example of breadcrumb navigation.](https://aioseo.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/breadcrumb-trail-flyhomes.jpg)
To add and edit your breadcrumbs, go to the General Settings and select the Breadcrumbs option.

You will get many options to help you setup your breadcrumbs the way you like. Unfortunately, for advanced users, you’ll find basic breadcrumbs settings.
This is why I love the way AIOSEO gives you full control. For example, it also gives you many different options to add breadcrumbs. This includes:
- Gutenberg block or shortcode: Use these to add breadcrumbs to individual pages.
- Widget: Use this to add breadcrumbs to your blog post sidebar or footer.
- PHP code: Use this to add breadcrumbs site-wide (to all pages) instantly.

Plus, you get a lot of breadcrumb templates you can use to speed up implementation. You can easily customize the templates using smart tags or directly edit the HTML code. This gives you full control over how your breadcrumbs will appear on your site and in search results.
Sitemap Generation
The essence of SEO lies in ensuring that search engines can effectively crawl and index your site. Without this capability, even the most advanced SEO strategies will fail.
This is where sitemaps come into play.
Sitemaps play a pivotal role in this process, acting as a navigational guide for search engines to explore your site efficiently. They also notify search engines about newly published or updated content, accelerating the indexing process and enhancing visibility
In the sitemap arena, Rank Math SEO has a capable sitemap generator.

This can help you implement different types of sitemaps, such as:
I found it strange, though, that Rank Math separates and scatters their sitemap generators all over the Modules page.

This can be rather confusing and counterintuitive.
With AIOSEO, you activate all your sitemaps in the same place.

Plus, you get more options like an RSS sitemap, advanced settings, and you can even import a sitemap via a CSV file.
Robots.txt Editor
A robots.txt is a text file that tells search engine bots (and other web crawlers) how to crawl and index your website’s content. For example, you can add directives to tell these bots to ignore your WordPress admin pages, plugin files, and WordPress themes folder.
In essence, the robots.txt file enables you to control your crawl budget. By managing your crawl quota effectively, you can prompt search engines to index your most important content faster.
With Rank Math, you can create and edit this crucial file directly from the WordPress admin area.

It is important to note, though, that you will need to delete the actual robots.txt file (if any) from your website’s root folder using an FTP client if you want to use Rank Math’s editor.
If you’re not tech-savvy, using this robots.txt editor can be a daunting task as you’ll have to know how to add code or manually input crawl directives.
This is where I believe AIOSEO lives to its “people first” philosophy. The plugin’s robots.txt editor allows you to easily add directives without needing any technical knowledge.

You can even block unwanted web crawlers with just a few clicks. Plus, you can even import crawl directives to another site, making it easy to replicate your crawling and indexing strategy.

Rank Math Review: Advanced Features
Now that we’ve looked at the general features that most sites need from a WordPress SEO plugin, let’s quickly look at some of Rank Math’s more advanced features.
Local SEO Features
If you run a business that targets customers in a specific geographic location, you need a local SEO strategy. For example, if you run a restaurant, salon, plumbing business, or retail store, then you’d want to be found online by your target audience.
Local SEO helps improve your chances of appearing in relevant local search results. For example, if someone searches for an “Italian restaurant” in your area, a well-optimized site increases the likelihood of appearing in their search results.

Rank Math offers a Local Settings section where you can enter essential business details like opening hours, address, and industry niche.

For businesses with multiple locations, Rank Math’s multi-location Local SEO feature ensures each venue is optimized for local searches, helping all locations rank effectively. Once configured, Rank Math automatically adds the necessary metadata, making it easier for Google to recognize your site as a local business.
I put AIOSEO’s Local SEO module head-to-head with Rank Math’s, and the results were quite interesting. AIOSEO put more features in their module to help customers succeed more when targeting local traffic. Examples include multi-location support, review management integration, and Google Maps embedding.

WooCommerce SEO
If you run an online store, Rank Math’s WooCommerce SEO module offers tools to optimize your product pages and improve search rankings.
![The Rank Math Review You Need To Read [Worth It In 2025?] 3 Rank Math's WooCommerce module](https://aioseo.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/rank-math-woocommerce-seo-meta.png)
To start, this module automatically removes prefixes like ‘product’ and ‘shop’ from your product URLs, as well as ‘/product-category/’ from product category URLs. This results in cleaner, more user-friendly links that are easier for both shoppers and search engines to understand.
Besides this, Rank Math also adds an SEO Meta Box to the WooCommerce product editor, allowing you to fine-tune how each product appears in search results.

I found the WooCommerce SEO module rather lacking in features compared to AIOSEO. The latter gives a lot more options to help optimize your product pages to rank higher on search engines.

For example, AIOSEO allows you to set global product attributes, export product attribute data, has sitemap support for product attributes, and much more.
Performance and Keyword Rank Tracking
Rank Math offers tools for monitoring and analyzing website performance and keyword rankings, providing users with actionable insights to refine their SEO strategy.

Rank Maths Keyword Rank Tracker
Rank Math’s Keyword Rank Tracker does what the name says—it tracks your keyword positions on Google. It integrates with Google Search Console (GSC) and pulls your data from there. This enables you to observe trends and identify fluctuations in your rankings over time.
![The Rank Math Review You Need To Read [Worth It In 2025?] 4 Tracking keywords using Rank Math](https://aioseo.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/rank-math-keywords.png)
This functionality enables a data-driven approach to SEO, facilitating the identification of successful strategies and areas requiring improvement.
In all honesty, I just love the UI, flow, and attention to detail that AIOSEO put in their performance dashboard, which they call Search Statistics.

You can easily get an overview of your SEO performance. You can also hone in on the metrics that matter the most to you.
One of the coolest features I like is that you can also see when major Google algorithm updates took place. This makes it easy to pinpoint the impact of updates on your site.

Website Analytics
Besides keyword tracking, Rank Math provides website performance analysis. It gives you data such as site speed, page load times, and mobile responsiveness.

This integration streamlines the optimization process and provides a holistic view of website health. The plugin also suggests improvements to enhance performance, contributing to a better user experience and improved search engine visibility.
Rank Math Review: Pricing & Support
This Rank Math review wouldn’t be complete without a look at the pricing plans and the value you get from the plugin. So, let’s get to that.

Rank Math starts at $96.46 per year for the Pro plan. The Business plan will set you back $251.88/year and the Agency plan a whopping $599.88/year.
Pricing-wise, All in One SEO should be the obvious choice for taking your SEO to the next level.

You get more advanced features all around, plus superior support. You also get more flexible pricing.
But if you’re still not convinced, AlOSEO also offers a 14-day no-risk money-back guarantee. If your plan isn’t a good fit, you can get your money back. Best of all, you don’t even need to give a reason for the refund.
Support
On the support front, I found that Rank Math still has a long way to go. And that’s not just me. Check out what other users have to say:

When it comes to websites, I’m a strong believer in getting problems solved ASAP. After all, any delay could cost me rankings, traffic and money. That’s why I prioritize customer support when shopping for tools to help bolster my online visibility.

Final Verdict: Is Rank Math Worth It?
If I got a dollar every time I get asked if Rank Math is worth it or not, I’d be able to go on more vacations every year.
So, what’s my verdict?
Rank Math is a good WordPress SEO plugin. However, I recommend All In One SEO (AIOSEO) if you’re looking for the best. Besides being the original WordPress SEO plugin, most of its features are more advanced than those of most competitors. And with innovative features being released monthly, the plugin is setting a pace that others find hard to follow.
