WPShout has a rich history of WordPress development education. From free tutorials and development guides to the flagship course “Up and Running” launched back in 2017, the site has helped hundreds of people learn WordPress development.
Since taking over WPShout a couple of years ago, we’ve been planning to continue this educational legacy.
WordPress has evolved dramatically in recent years. This is why instead of just updating the old courses on the site, we’ve been working on a vision: creating a truly up-to-date WordPress development course that addresses the modern ecosystem. Not the WordPress of 2017 or even 2020, but the WordPress of today and tomorrow – with blocks, Full Site Editing, AI, and modern development workflows at its core.
Our goal has been to bring WPShout’s tradition of WordPress education into the modern era. It’s been a journey with many starts and stops. We outlined curricula, sketched lesson plans, and experimented with formats. But something was always missing – the perfect instructor who could bring deep WordPress core knowledge together with practical, real-world experience.
Finding the Right Instructor
That changed when we met Kaspars Dambis, a full-stack developer and WordPress core contributor with over 20 years of web development experience.
As former Director of Engineering at a leading WordPress agency, Kaspars led multi-million-dollar projects for international publishers and high-traffic media brands, scaling WordPress to serve tens of millions of monthly users.
His credentials are impressive: contributions to WordPress core since version 3.9, creator of the official Two-Factor authentication plugin, and author of over 40 plugins with more than 140,000 active installations. Kaspars has also spoken at WordCamps and built development workflows for large engineering teams.
What impressed us most wasn’t just Kaspars’ technical knowledge (though that’s formidable), but his ability to explain complex WordPress concepts clearly and his passion for teaching proper development practices.
